I realized something today.
A year ago I was starting my senior year. Although I knew from the beginning that at the end of the year I would be going to college, it didn’t really set in. It didn’t set in when the last day of school came, it didn’t set in when I was applying to different colleges, it didn’t set in when I went on college tours, or as I took my final high school test . But it started to slowly set in as people graduated, as they got their roommates and class schedules, and finally as they started leaving…but it really hit this week as I walked into Bible Study and realized there were faces missing, hugs I didn’t get that I wanted. It really hit when I said goodbye to the boy I’ve babysat for three days a week for the last year. It really hit when I realized that out of all my friend’s volleyball games this year, the one I saw last night might be the only one I get to see this year. It set in when I walked into my room and saw the packing boxes stacked up.
I am so excited to go to college, to make new friends, to have new adventures, and so much more. But leaving my home and my friends has been/is going to be one of the hardest and scariest things I’ve had to do. But that’s all a part of the adventure of going off to college right? And after this year, I’ll be back here with the people I love, just with a year of college under my belt, and more friends to love in my life.
